鲸兽鲸属（学名：Cetotherium，意为“鲸兽”）是新须鲸科下已灭绝的一属。[1]在中文语境下常被误称为“新须鲸属”，实际上该名称误译自小露脊鲸属的异名Neobalaena。
演化

鲸兽鲸类于渐新世开始出现，并且分裂为两类。当中一类包含了鲸兽鲸，从演化角度来看，鲸兽鲸与须鲸科及灰鲸有一些共通的特征。[2]
科学家一直以来都认为所有鲸兽鲸科的物种在上新世时均已绝种。然而 2012 年的研究提出，小露脊鲸属于鲸兽鲸科且为该科唯一的现存物种[3]。
潜在威胁
[编辑]从鲸兽鲸类的化石纪录显示鲸兽鲸可能被其他大型掠食性鲨鱼（如巨齿鲨）攻击及猎食。
