《Voices of the Lifestream》是OverClocked ReMix製作的一張非官方致敬合輯，以紀念植松伸夫為著名的視頻遊戲《最終幻想VII》所創作的配樂。合輯於2007年9月14日發行，以紀念《最終幻想VII》十周年。自發行以來，這張合輯獲得了眾多電子遊戲網站和專業作曲家的好評。
開發[編輯]
《Voices of the Lifestream》的製作始於2006年1月，由OverClocked ReMix的評審和混音師安德魯·「鋯石」·阿維薩（Andrew "zircon" Aversa）個人發起，旨在重新創作《最終幻想VII》的原聲音樂[1]。在編導筆記中，阿維薩提到他對遊戲《最終幻想VII》的懷舊體驗是他進行這個專案的動力來源[2]。為此，他創建了一個私人論壇用於專案的開發，並聯繫了許多社區成員來協助制定曲目清單。整個專案的開發歷時20個月以上，涉及到超過40位混音師共同創作了45首曲目[3][4]。合輯於2007年9月14日發佈，以慶祝日本作曲家植松伸夫為遊戲《最終幻想VII》創作的配樂推出十周年[5][6][7]。合輯的實體副本數量很少，些曲目以無損WAV和MP3格式數碼發行[8]。《Voices of the Lifestream》也是OC ReMix發行的第九個作品[1]。
音樂視頻比賽[編輯]
在2007年10月，OverClocked ReMix與Piano Squall以及eStarland聯合舉辦了一場比賽，比賽內容是製作一部以《Voices of the Lifestream》中的曲目為背景的音樂視頻[9][10]。比賽設有三個不同的組別，包括《最終幻想VII》、動漫和原創。獲獎者將獲得簽名限量版《Voices of the Lifestream》簽名限量版等獎品，並有機會在OC ReMix參與的動漫和遊戲展會上展示他們的視頻作品。比賽於12月14日結束，兩個月後在OverClocked ReMix論壇上宣佈了獲獎名單：[11]

對這張合輯，公眾的反響總體上是積極的，根據OC ReMix網站上的BitTorrent追蹤器顯示，《Voices of the Lifestream》是OverClocked ReMix迄今為止下載次數最多的專案。[8]
電子遊戲音樂網站以及一般電子遊戲網站的編輯們對合輯的評論一般都是正面的[5][7]。Kotaku稱該專案是「一項充滿愛的大規模勞動」[14]。Game Tabs稱這張合輯是一部「傑作」，並對合輯的質量感到驚訝，但還是批評了部分曲目的聲樂部分[15]。SquareSound給予專案90%的評分，讚揚了OC ReMix社區展示的音樂才華並推薦立即下載。SquareSound還批評了其中的一些曲目，認為他們在嘗試重新詮釋原始素材時「迷失了方向」[3]。Music4Games的傑森·納波利塔諾（Jayson Napolitano）在預先評論中稱《Voices of the Lifestream》是「電子遊戲音樂世界中最令人印象深刻、最全面的聆聽體驗之一」[16]。
有關這張合輯的消息不僅限於美國，芬蘭電子遊戲雜誌《Pelit》也給這張合輯打出了5星（滿分5星）的評分，稱讚了其多樣化的內容，但同時也指出了一些在開發期間應該從專輯中排除的不必要的曲目。儘管如此，《Voices of the Lifestream》仍然被描述為「長期以來互聯網音樂界最有趣的事件」。[17]
