Udio根据文字提示创作歌曲，提示内容可以包括音乐类型（如男声四重唱、乡村、古典、嘻哈、德国流行音乐和硬摇滚等）、歌词、故事方向，以及模仿其他艺术家的风格。歌词由大型语言模型（LLM）生成，而音乐生成的具体技术截至2024年4月尚未公开[11]。该程式会根据提示生成两首歌曲，使用者可以通过进一步的文字提示来“重新混合”歌曲。[12]最初生成的歌曲约为30秒长，并可按30秒的增量进行延长。[7]付费订阅者则可使用更高级的功能，例如音讯修补 [13][14]。
