小杰瑞·巴特勒（英语：Jerry Butler, Jr.，1939年12月8日—2025年2月20日）是美国灵魂乐创作歌手、制作人、音乐家与政治人物。他因身为R&B合唱组合印象合唱团的主唱而闻名。在离开合唱团后，巴特勒的个人音乐生涯也相当成功，在流行与R&B音乐销量/热门排行榜上拥有55首前40名单曲。1985年起，他当选成为伊利诺州库克郡的郡委员会成员，担任卫生和医院委员会主席和建筑委员会副主席至2018年。[1]
生平
[编辑]巴特勒于1939年出生于密西西比州的森弗劳尔。[2]他生活在芝加哥的卡布里尼-格林住宅区，音乐和教会为贫困的当地社区带来慰借。[3]年轻时的巴特勒与吉他手柯提斯·梅菲尔德先是在教堂合唱团里相遇和一起演出，之后两人一同加入了六人制合唱组合，即当时还是叫The Roosters的印象合唱团。合唱团的风格受山姆·库克与灵魂煽动者、密西西比五盲童、朝圣旅行者等福音合唱组合的影响，而他们也就此进入了音乐产业。[4][5][6]
巴特勒的弟弟比利·巴特勒同样也跟随哥哥走入音乐产业，包含为哥哥的乐团弹奏吉他与创作歌曲，直到他2015年逝世为止。[7][8]
早期事业
[编辑]1958年，巴特勒与亚瑟（Arthur Brooks）和理察·布鲁克斯（Richard Brooks）兄弟合写了〈For Your Precious Love〉，而他们正在寻找录音室来录制这首歌时引起了西洋棋唱片与维杰唱片的注意。印象合唱团在同年选择与维杰唱片签下合约并录制、发行了〈For Your Precious Love〉。这首歌成为了组合第一首金唱片认证热门歌曲，并在《滚石杂志》的五百大歌曲榜中位居327名。[5]然而，在1960年巴特勒决定离团展开个人音乐事业，梅菲尔德则接替他成为组合的新领导。
个人音乐事业
[编辑]巴特勒的个人生涯始于1965年，与奥蒂斯·雷丁合写的〈I've Been Loving You Too Long〉。巴特勒的个人生涯拥有一连串的热门歌曲，其中包括前十大单曲〈He Will Break Your Heart〉、〈Find Another Girl〉、〈I'm A-Telling You〉（以上皆由长年好友柯提斯·梅菲尔德所写，他也为这些歌录制背景和声），突破百万销售的〈Only the Strong Survive〉、〈Moon River〉、〈Need To Belong〉（在单飞之后再次与印像合唱团录制的歌曲）、〈Make It Easy on Yourself〉、〈Let It Be Me〉（与贝蒂·艾弗雷特合唱）、〈Brand New Me〉、〈Ain't Understanding Mellow〉（与布兰达·李·伊格合唱）、〈Hey, Western Union Man〉和〈Never Give You Up〉。

巴特勒拥有两张最成功的专辑，分别是1968年的《The Ice Man Cometh》和1969年的《Ice on Ice》。他与来自费城的词歌创作组合甘柏与霍夫合作，在摩城唱片与保罗·大卫·威尔森（Paul David Wilson）制作了两张专辑：《Suite for the Single Girl》（1976年）和《It All Comes Out in My Song》（1977年）。[4][5]
东尼·奥兰多与黎明合唱团于1975年翻唱了〈He Will Break Your Heart〉，并以新名字〈He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)〉发行。此版本在《告示牌》百大单曲榜上成为冠军单曲，比巴特勒的原版更加成功。[6]
1980年代至今
[编辑]巴特勒在担任库克郡委员会成员期间也持续在表演，直到2018年宣布退休为止。[5][9]身为委员会成员，他在2008年投票赞成增加早已是全美最高的库克郡销售税，而这使得《芝加哥论坛报》鼓励人们在2010年的选举中投票反对他。[10]然而，巴特勒在2014年3月以超过80％的选票赢得连任。[11]
在近几年，巴特勒曾担任公共广播电视公司音乐特别节目的主持人，如《Doo Wop 50》、《51, Rock Rhythm and Doo Wop》、《Soul Spectacular: 40 years of R&B》等。他还曾担任节奏蓝调基金会的董事会主席。1991年，巴特勒与印象合唱团的其他创始成员（梅菲尔德、山姆·古登、弗雷德·凯许和布鲁克斯兄弟）一同入选摇滚名人堂。[6][12][13]
瑞典车库庞克乐团蜂窝乐团在他们的第二张专辑《Veni Vidi Vicious》翻唱了巴特勒的歌〈Find Another Girl〉。黑键乐团也在2010年专辑《哥儿们》中翻唱巴特勒的歌〈Never Give You Up〉。[14]
