English: An image of the constellation Crux, otherwise known as the Southern Cross. The image consists of ten frames, each with a duration of ten seconds, which have been stacked to reduce noise and the effect of light pollution. As with most digital astrophotographs a large amount of post-processing has been done; frame stacking as well as manipulation of light levels and gamma. A side-effect of removing light pollution is that the brightness of background stars has been reduced. The background star density in the image closely resembles the constellation as seen with the naked eye in a light polluted area.
