線上報紙是電子出版的報紙，無論是作為一個獨立的出版物，或作為一個印刷的在線期刊。

線上報紙為傳統報紙創造了更多的機會，比如與之競爭以更及時的方式的廣播新聞主導的頭條新聞。報業的信譽和強勢的品牌知名度，以及與廣告主的密切關係，也為報業界的許多人所看到，增加了他們的生存機會。^[1]
